　　Q是Queue，“辫子”的意思。

　　Q is queue,a chinese pigtail which was introduced by the manchu dynasty in 1644.

　　从1644年开始一直到1911年清朝最后一个皇帝下台，中国人都留长长的辫子，

　　the queue was worn by chinese men through the chinese empire until 1911 when china became a republic.

　　住在美国的华人当时也一样，个个脑袋后面拖着长辫子。从二十世纪初摄影师阿诺根舍拍的华埠风光相片中仍可以看到梳辫子的华人。

　　今天我们看这些相片，觉得大男人留个长辫子是十分久远以前的怪事，

　　they seem so strange now, andso long ago

　　但我们的老爷爷可能还记得呢。

　　yet many persons living in chinatown still remember them.
