　　1. Students get to know the meaning of the words zog by skimming the text, and can master the letter sounds/a/,/o/

　　2. Students can read the picture books loudly, and can retell the first two pictures of the picture book “The Odd Pet”.

　　3. Students can describe their pets in English.

　　Teaching Aids:

　　Some pictures cards and PPT.

　　Teaching difficulties:

　　1. Students can say something about the zog’s abilities.

　　2. Students can read the whole stories.

　　Key points of teaching:

　　1.Students can listen and read the picture book

　　2.Students can read the words with /a/and /o/ sounds.

　　Teaching procedures:

　　Warm up:

　　1.Free talk with what I can do. By talking, the teacher shows her abilities and draw some pictures about dog and cat. (Students get to know the sentences I can … and the teacher is going to lead the topic in.)

　　2. Talking pets by showing the PPT, students can tell others their pets.(Teacher can ask if the students have a pet dog or pet cat. For the story words Kim has a dog, Jim has a cat, If the student we are talking with has a pet dog, we retell he has a pet dog consciously and purposely.)

　　3. Lead in.

　　Today we’re going to read a picture book named The Odd Pet.

　　Step 1: Teacher shows the cover of the book and guide students to describe the odd pet.

　　Step 2: Listen to the story. Listen to the story for the first time and try to get the name of the odd pet, how we can call the odd pet.(By listening, students get to the word zog.)

　　Step 3: Read the story. By watching the story’s vedio, students get the answer how many people there are in the picture book.(By reading the names Kim Jim Viv, we can practice pronouncing the letter sound/i/.)

　　Step 4: Read the story with PPT. By reading the story with PPT, students think about the question what the zog can do.

　　Step 5: Read the story aloud by following the PPT.

　　Step 6: Retell the story. Students can describe the first two questions in their own words.(We just describe the first two pictures according the story is a little bit long.)

　　Step7: Spelling words with the letter sounds/a/and /o/. Sam/Mat/cat/ ran/has, /hop/lot/zog/dog/, the short sentences Mat ran./ Sam hop. Secondly, let students repeat the letter sounds one by one.

　　Step8: Further reading. Students can read another picture book Sam and Mat with the certain letter sounds.

　　Homework:

　　1. Read the story for two times.

　　2. Retell the first two pictures.
