　　P是Portsmouth Square普兹茅斯广场，华埠仅有的几块绿地之一。

　　P is for portsmouth square,one of the few green areas in chinatown

　　如今它好象只是个普通的公园，退休的老人聚在这里下下中国象棋什么的。

　　today it may seem to be just another city park,where retired oldsters play chinese checkers and bright youngsters diligently shine shoes.

　　但这个广场曾经辉煌过，1849年加州淘金热的时候，它是城市的中心。

　　but during the gold rush days of 1849,it was the historic heart of the city.

　　如果你到广场散步，可以看到许多石碑和雕像。著名的作家罗伯斯蒂文森曾经躺在这片草地上构想他的文学巨著《金银岛》。

　　现在广场下面修建了四层地下停车场，我们去华埠时就把车停在那里。
