January 1st is New Year's Day. It's a great day for all the people throughout the world. As the saying goes, "A good beginning is half the battle". So, many people go all out to celebrate the important day. On that day, I went to the Book City with my classmates. We bought a lot of useful reference books and interesting story books. I believe "Knowledge is power". I hope I can learn a lot from these books and improve my study. In the evening, my family had a big dinner party.
All the members in my family wished me a good luck in the new year.

New Year's Day is one of important days for many people in the word during the year.Most people spend the New Year'sDay in hotels.January 1st is considered as the New Year's Day.most companies,shops,school,and government offices are closed during that time.
People prepare for New Year's Dayfrom late December.Firt,people spend a few days to clean their houses completely.Some families then put up some new painting from November to be sent in January.
The New Year's meal is also prepared from the end of December.During the New Year's Day,people usually do not cook and relax at home. On New Year's Eve,it is common to have a bag dinner with family members or friends at home or in hotels and hear bells which informs us of the coming New Year.On New Year's Day,people fiest greet each other.
Some people wear new coats and visit temples to pray for happiness and health theoughout the New Year.Children are busy with getting the gifts from their parents and relatives.

This year's new year's Day is really exciting! Look! People are wearing new clothes, every street has so many colorful figure in the rock, like the river flowing, the front of the head, not the tail. The shop just opened the door, people will be like the gate of the tide, the store was full of dangdang. The lantern of the festival lights the square as bright as day. Every family all cleaning houses and courtyards, paste the couplets, hang red lanterns, New Year paintings, there are cattle pattern, which is of course in the year of the ox. The door also posted a blessing word. People carrying bags zouqingfangyou.
In the evening, the children are running out of fireworks, look! "Small missiles" like real missiles, into the night sky, not for a moment, in the air exploded, many petals slowly down. I saw the "bee" with red and green flying in midair buzzing; "Pearl" in the hand like magic, lit up half of the sky; a kaleidoscope of color flower ejected two meters high; "delaoshu" issued one hundred times squeak, scurrying in the ground. On New Year's day, every person's face is filled with a happy smile.
今年的元旦真热闹啊!看!人们都穿上了新衣服，每条大街小巷都有那么多五颜六色的身影在晃动，像河水一样流淌，前不见头，后不见尾。商店刚开门，人们便像开了闸的潮水一样，把商店灌得满满当当。节日的彩灯把广场照耀得像白昼一样明亮。家家户户都清扫了房屋和庭院，贴上了春联、年画，挂起了灯笼，上面还有牛的图案，这当然是牛年了。门口还贴了倒“福”字。大人们手里拎着大包小包走亲访友。
到了晚上，小朋友们都跑出来放烟火了，瞧!“小导弹”就像真的导弹一样，冲向夜空中，不一会儿，在空中爆炸了，许多花瓣慢慢地降落了下来。我又看到“小蜜蜂”曳着红绿光在半空中嗡嗡飞翔;“夜明珠”拿在手上像法宝，映亮了半个天空;万花筒喷出的彩花有两米多高;“地老鼠”发出一百声吱吱声，在地上乱窜。爸爸点燃了一个爆竹，等“哧哧”响的芯子快燃完了，他的手猛地往地上一扬，“啪”地一声，爆竹在空中爆炸了……
在元旦，每一个人脸上都洋溢着欢快的笑容。
