The Forbidden City is located in the center of Beijing and was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of the most famous tourist attractions in China.
We started our tour by walking through the Meridian Gate, the main entrance to the Forbidden City. We then walked through the Golden Water Bridge and into the Outer Court, where the emperor held court and performed official ceremonies. We saw the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Preserving Harmony.
Next, we entered the Inner Court, which was the residence of the emperor and his family. We saw the Palace of Heavenly Purity, where the emperor slept, as well as the Palace of Earthly Tranquility, where the empress lived.
We also saw a number of smaller palaces and courtyards, as well as the Imperial Garden, which was a beautiful and peaceful place to relax.
