　　I’ve yet to meet anyone who thinks that this world that we live in is perfect. This is not a political statement. It’s equally true of liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans. And if you don’t think the world that we live in is perfect, the only way it gets better is if good people work to repair it. Our students, our faculty, our staff and alumni are doing that daily, and it makes me so proud.

　　This year, I had the privilege to meet, and be moved by, not just one but two of the nation’s preeminent poets – the United States Youth Poet Laureate, our own Amanda Gorman, and the United States Poet Laureate, our own Tracy K. Smith. I’ve also had the chance to marvel at artists who every day breathe life into our campus with their performances and their creative work – it’s amazing to see the talent that is represented on this campus and among our alumni, our faculty, and staff.

　　And every day, I’ve learned more about the remarkable efforts of our faculty to improve the world:

　　Alison Simmons and Barbara Grosz were [are] making sure that the next generation of computer scientists is prepared to address the ethical questions posed by the development of new digital technologies;

　　Ali Malkawi and his HouseZero, which is demonstrating the possibilities of ultra-efficient design and new building technology to respond to the threat of climate change;

　　hello everyone!

　　There is a fable that a man caught a young eagle in an eagles nest on the top of a high mountain. He took the young eagle home and kept it in a chicken cage. The young eagle pecks, plays and rests with the chicken every day. He thinks he is also a chicken. When the chicken grows up, its wings are plump. The master wanted to train it into a falcon, but because it was mixed with chickens all day, it had become a chicken and had no desire to fly at all. The master tried all kinds of methods, but they didnt work. Finally, he took it to the top of the mountain and threw it out. The eagle fell like a stone. In a hurry, he flapped his wings desperately. In this way, he finally flew up!

　　This fable tells us that if we dont know how to fight, struggle and explore the potential deep in our hearts, we can never fly, but just a chicken in a cage. I think this may be the true meaning of autonomous learning!

　　Everybody Can Help The Environment.

　　we all know famous indian poet once said, "life is given to us, and we earn it by giving it." as the saying goes, nature is given to us, and we earn it by contributing to it. however, most people nowadays just want to ask for more from the nature. in fact, they do very little contribution to the nature. therefore, the environment around us is becoming worse and worse.

　　do you often use batteries? then do you know it takes 50 times more energy to make them than they produce? and just one simple battery can pollute as much water as a person can drink in his whole life. the facts and figures are amazing. so would you please try to use batteries only when it is necessary? if possible, give the used ones to the recycling companies so that they will be made into new ones and won’t be able to pollute the environment any more. sometimes we become complacent when it comes to recycling, but when you speak in terms of actual facts and figures that everybody can understand, people become much clearer about the problem.

　　we, as school students, can also join in recycling activities to protect the environment. for example, our class set up a recycling center beside the back door, it is very useful. it is used to collect the waste paper and plastic bottles. in the past, our classmates used to throw all of these into the trashcan. at the very beginning of this collecting……

　　good morning everybody. it is true that most of us value honesty highly. however, nowadays we often confront confidence crisis such as cheating, overcharging, fake commodities and so on. i think that we should be honest because being honest is not only beneficial to ourselves but also to others and the whole society. the reasons can be listed as follows.firstly, only honest people can be truly respected by the others and can make more friends over a long period of time. secondly, honesty, which is the traditional virtue of the chinese people, can make our life easier and more harmonious. thirdly, honesty can make our society more stable. a case in point is that singapore, a society featuring trustworthiness and integrity, has a comparatively low criminal rate. responsbility can be understood in many ways. for the parents , they have had the responsibility for caring for and fostering their children since the birth of their baby.for teachers,both in kindergartens and colleges,they also should be responsible for the study and life of their students,that is to say,teahers are the second parents of children somewhile. for us,as a friend of others,it is our responsibility to help our friends when they are in trouble or faced with difficulties. each one has the different responsibily based on their roles but we must take it for granted that we are responsible for the society. that is all ,thank you.

　　Speaking of him, I have no deep impression on him. In my eyes, he is just an old man over 60 years old. He never talks. I dont know his name yet. Every time I go to school and school, he cleans the street near my intersection, whether its windy or rainy.

　　It is this ordinary grandfather who tells the extraordinary truth. I still remember that day, the grandfather was still sweeping the street. People will try their best to write the things in their stage in their way. When we read books, we have the opportunity to learn everything. 　　it is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and paion for the english language.

　　about a year and a half ago, i took part in my very first english speech i stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, i could hardly stood there, embarraed and helple, struggling in vain for the right thing to fears had paralyzed me.

　　while my paion for english has never changed, i lost my courage to speak in my profeor again encouraged me to take part in this competition, i said “no.” i couldn’t endure yet another painful looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my will never forget his words.“look,” he said, “we all have our fears, and you have could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play away can never dispel your fears, but action winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.”

　　i spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my i made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: i would face my fears and take part in the competition!

　　as it turned out, my dear old profeor was , here i am, once again standing before a heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, i have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!
