my dear friends :
good afternoon !i’m very glad to make a speech here .today my topic “is money everything?”
today more and more people want to get more money , more and more people want to get a good job for more money. if you have a rich family ,or your father is a boss or a manager you’ll be glad. maybe you’re proud of that .
in a word ,they can do everything they like with money .they can get whatever they want .do you think so? my friends ,can money really bring us everything we want?
in a way,of course ,money is really very important to us all. without money ,we can do nothing and can’t live on .
but we must know that money can’t bring us everything .with money ,we can buy many things indeed ,but we can’t buy knowledge ,we can’t buy time ,we can’t buy true love and so on .
these are the most precious things in the world .if a person has none of them ,though he has a great deal of money , he is still poor .once i heard two men ,one is rich ,but he felt lonely and sad ,when he was sick ,or when he was in trouble , no one came to help him .he had no good friends .he could’t enjoy himself even though he had so much money .what a pity !
but the other felt happy every day ,because so many good friends loved him ,helped him .although he was poor ,he enjoyed himself . as we know ,who’s the richest person in the world ?you’ll tell me loudly “bill gates” right .he’s the richest person .and bill tells people “money isn’t everything.”
so i should say to all of you ,my friends ,money isn’t everything ,we can’t always think of money first ,we should work hard ,we should be interested in our work .
as students ,we must work hard ,we can’t ask our parents to buy expensive coats to become rich .we can’t do anything wrong to make money .
money can’t bring us everything ,we can’t become the servant of the money .we should be the master of ourselves .come on ,we should think more about our study ,our parents .
1、the thirsty pigeon
a pigeon, oppressed by excessive thirst, saw a goblet of water painted on a signboard. not supposing it to be only a picture, she flew towards it with a loud whir and unwittingly dashed against the signboard, jarring herself terribly. having broken her wings by the blow, she fell to the ground, and was caught by one of the bystanders.
zeal should not outrun discretion.
2、the wind and the sun
one day the wind said to the sun, “look at that man walking along the road. i can get his cloak off more quickly than you can.”
“we will see about that,” said the sun. “i will let you try first.”
so the wind tried to make the man take off his cloak. he blew and blew, but the man only pulled his cloak more closely around himself.
“i give up,” said the wind at last. “i cannot get his cloak off.” then the sun tried. he shone as hard as he could. the man soon became hot and took off his cloak.
3、little robert(好孩子)
little robert asked his mother for two cents.
"what did you do with the money i gave you yesterday?"
"i gave it to a poor old woman," he answered.
"you're a good boy," said the mother proudly. "here are two cents
more. but why are you so interested in the old woman?"
"she is the one who sells the candy."
