1、The Mid-Autumn Festival (simplified Chinese: 中秋节; traditional Chinese: 中秋节; pinyin: zhōngqiūjié), also known as the Moon Festival, is a popular East Asian celebration of abundance and togetherness, dating back over 3,000 years to China's Zhou Dynasty. In Malaysia and Singapore, it is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or "Mooncake Festival."

2、The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the Chinese calendar (usually around mid- or late-September in the Gregorian calendar), a date that parallels the Autumn Equinox of the solar calendar. This is the ideal time, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest, to celebrate the abundance of the summer's harvest. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncake, of which there are many different varieties.

3、The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the two most important holidays in the Chinese calendar (the other being the Chinese Lunar New Year), and is a legal holiday in several countries. Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvesting season on this date. Traditionally, on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomeloes together. Accompanying the celebration, there are additional cultural or regional customs, such as:

4、Eating moon cakes outside under the moon

Putting pomelo rinds on one's head

  Carrying brightly lit lanterns

Burning incense in reverence to deities including Chang'e

  Planting Mid-Autumn trees

  Lighting lanterns on towers

  Fire Dragon Dances

Shops selling mooncakes, before the festival, often display pictures of Chang'e floating to the moon.

  "Thinking of You"

When will the moon be clear and bright?

With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask the blue sky.

I don't know what season it would be in the heavens on this night.

I'd like to ride the wind to fly home.

Yet I fear the crystal and jade mansions are much too high and cold for me.

  Dancing with my moon-lit shadow

It does not seem like the human world

The moon rounds the red mansion Stoops to silk-pad doors

Shines upon the sleepless Bearing no grudge

Why does the moon tend to be full when

  people are apart?

People may have sorrow or joy, be near or far apart

The moon may be dim or bright, wax or wane

This has been going on since the beginning of time

May we all be blessed with longevity Though far apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.

viewing the moon, thinking of you

  zhang jiuling

hoping a reunion in mdream will come quick.

  thoughtin the silent night

beside mbed a pool of light--

  it'frost falling in the night?

then bow mhead and think of home.

  花间一壶酒, 独酌无相亲;

  月既不解饮, 影徒随我身;

  我歌月徘徊, 我舞影零乱;

wine cup in hand, i ask the sky.

i do not know what time of the year

’twould be tonight in the palace on high.

riding the wind, there i would fly,

yet i’m afraid the crystalline palace would be

too high and cold for me.

i rise and dance, with mshadow i play.

on high aon earth, would it be agay?

  the moon goeround the mansionred

through gauze-draped window soft to shed

  her light upon the sleeplesbed.

whthen when people part, ithe oft full and bright?

  men have sorrow and joy; thepart or meet again;

the moon ibright or dim and she mawax or wane.

there habeen nothing perfect since the olden days.

  so let uwish that man

  will live long ahe can!

with cup in hand, i ask of the blue sky,

"i do not know in the celestial sphere

but fear the ethereal cold up there,

the jade and crystal mansionare so high!

  dancing to mshadow,

i feel no longer the mortal tie.

  she roundthe vermilion tower,

  stoopto silk-pad doors,

  shineon those who sleepleslie.

  whdoeshe, bearing uno grudge,

shine upon our parting, reunion deny?

  but rare iperfect happiness--

the moon doewax, the moon doewane,

and so men meet and sagoodbye.

  i onlpraour life be long,

  and our soultogether heavenward fly!
