尊老爱幼，自古以来就是中华民族的传统美德，我们莆仙人还有在重阳节祭祖的习俗。老一辈为了我们国家的强盛，为了下一代能过上富裕安康的'生活，他们艰苦创业、辛勤劳动了几十年，创造了大量的物质财富和精神财富，精心哺育和照料我们，使我们茁壮成长。如今他们老了，理应受到全社会的尊敬和照顾。所以我们应当继承和发扬中华民族尊老敬老的优良传统。
尊老敬老绝不是重阳节一天的事，应该是在日常生活中，帮助老人解决生活的困难，多给老人一些心理慰藉。因此，我提议，每一位共青团员和青少年学生都要用实际行动向老人们献上我们的一份心意，为自己的爷爷奶奶或者邻居老人做些力所能及的事，比如帮他们洗衣、洗碗、扫地、叠被，多为他们着想，少让他们做那些本来应该是我们自己做的事，把好吃让给他们，把有趣的事告诉他们，对邻居长辈有礼貌，外出礼让老人。
