Duringthe summer vacation, I borrowed a book called David Copperfieldfrom the library. I spent ten days readingit. It is said that David Copperfield is one of the mostfamous masterpieces of Charles Dickens . Dickens once said: “amongall my works, David Copperfield was my favorite.”The main character David Copperfield’s father diedbefore he was born. He had a happy childhood before hisninth birthday. When he was eight, he was warmlyinvited to Pigsty’s house. There, he spent a free holiday and madesome new friends. Actually, it was his last happy time in hischildhood. When he returned home, he found that his life hadcompletely changed. His mother had been married to Mr.Murdstone, astern man with the coldest heart in the world. He didn’t like Davidat all and poor David was forced to be sent to aworst boardingschool.,where students were treatedviolently. He had to work in the laboratory of hisstepfather when he was only ten years old! His work therewas dirty, tiring and boring .When David’s weakmother finally left him, he felt as if he had been an orphan in theworld . It was the hardest time in David’s life but he never gaveup. David ran away to his aunt for shelter,Luckily, Aunt Betsay agreed to help David and from then on,David’s darkest time ended. and begun his adventure ofa new life. Through so many difficulties, David grew tobe strong enough to solve problems and had his own happyending. He fell in love with a pretty younglady, Dora, and married her Meanwhile Copperfield became a famouswriter for living and also for his long-lasting dream. But thenanother tragedy happened--Dora died for she was too weak for ababy. Copperfield was so stricken that he decided to leave Londonand move to a faraway and silent place, where he continued hiswriting for three years. During the period, he kept in touch withAgnes, and his deep love on Agnes got clearer everyday. After hefinished his book, he went back to London with a clear idea of whathe should do. He proposed marriage with Agnes, who was so happy forshe had been in love with him for so many years. They got marriedand lived happily ever since.David Copperfield’ life was always tough while he wasalways struggling for his freedom and his happiness with hishard-bitten heart. He experienced both the dark andbright sight of the society at the same timeWhen I finished reading it, I realized there is power risingfrom the bottom of my heart. The power told me that I should studyhard. No matter how hard it is ! we shouldnever give up. we all should fight against the graythings in our life. Finally, I drew aconclusion .Firstly, I must believe in myself if I want to succeed.Secondly, trying my best to do things is also very important. Ifyou have great dreams, but you don’t make efforts to realize it ,you won’t be successful.Never give up! David has set a good example forus. Maybe we can learn something fromCopperfield!(588词)

  作品2:My thoughtsafter reading Wuthering Heights

During the National Day, I was reading a book which wascalled Wuthering Heights. It waswrittenbyEmilyBronte.EmilyBronteisperhapsthegreatestwriterofthethreeBrontesisters–Charlotte,EmilyandAnne.Sheonlypublishedonlyonebook—WutheringHeight.It was talking about a love story which happenedin Yorkshire, between two families. There are many people in the story. The first family isthe Mr Earnshaw. Mr Earnshaw and Mrs. Earnshaw had twodaughters---Cathering and Frances. Their son was Hingdley. Hingdleyhad a son who was called Harleton. They were living in theWuthering Heights. But the second family---the Lintons were livingin the Thrushcross Grange. Mr Linton and Mrs linton had a son whosename was Edgar. They also had a daughter, she was calledIsabella. In 1770, Mr. Earnshaw came back from a long journey. Hehad brought a dirty, black-haired gipsy child. The child was calledHeathcliff. As time went by, Heathcliff and Catherine were fallingin love. But Hindley hated Heathcliff. He disagreed that Catherineplayed with Heathcliff. At last, Catherine married Edgar Lintonbecause Edgar was rich, and she would be the most important womanfor miles around. The main reason was that she can help Heathcliffwith her husband ‘money. Hindley had made Heathcliff become a poor, dull farm worker. So Heathcliff hated Earnshaws , and Lintons. In 1787, Heathcliff had changed. He wore a confident, intelligentexpression on his face, and his manner was no longer rough. Thefarm boy had become a gentleman. He had worked all his life todestroy these two families, the Earnshaws and the Lintons. He hadgot their money and their land. But he had lost Catherine. Forsomething his whole body and heart and brain had wanted for solong! It’s a long fight! He wished it were finished! In 1802, Mr Heathcliff was there in bed, lying on hisback. His eyes were so eagerly and fiercely, and he seemed to besmiling! He was dead! The three gravestones close to the moorCatherine’s, the middle one, is old one. On one side is EdgarLinton’s, and on the other is Heathcliff’s new one. Hindley’s son,Hareton and Catherine and Edgar’s daughter, Cathy got married. Theywere living happily. The main reason for making the lover separate from is their selves. They are proud, selfish. They can’t decide their lives. As aresult, love usually fails because of these reasons. In a word, I hope that everyone doesn’t start to cherishsomething until you have lost it. Please cherish what you have now. That’s my thought about Wuthering Heights. It’s really a good book. The story is wonderful, and the structure is also extremelyexcellent. The author Emily Bronte uses a series of flashbacks andtime shifts draws a powerful picture of this story. Because of itswonderful story, excellent structure and graceful language, thebook left a deep impression on me. I’d like to recommend it toother readers. I’m sure Readers will really gain much from thisbook.(548)
